Woman With Headscarf: Dark Skin Tone
A person (generally depicted as a woman) wearing a headscarf, shown from the shoulders up. While the type of headscarf is not specified, it is broadly depicted as a hijab, which is traditionally worn by Muslim women.
Most major platforms depict the hijab in shades of purple, though WhatsApp’s design uniquely uses a green headscarf.
This emoji was successfully proposed and approved following a high-profile international campaign by then-15-year-old Rayouf Alhumedhi, dubbed The Hijab Emoji Project.
