The letter M in a circle, commonly used in to identify a Metro (subway, underground train) station in a city area. Typically depicted as a white M on a blue circular background.

This emoji predates the inclusion of emojis within Unicode. It was first added to early Japanese emoji keyboards by Docomo in 1999 as a simple letter M.
